A customer has issued an urgent warning after finding something odd in her new Kmart stainless steel tumbler.

Emily, from Brisbane, claims to have found metal beads inside the straw of her $12 blue ombre tumbler and expressed concern in a popular Facebook group.

‘Got my tumbler today, anyone else have these metal balls in the straw?’ Emily wrote, then later added: ‘I’m not posting to give Kmart a bad name or anything, but maybe in future to check straws as I’m a Kmart lover.’

Images shared online show several loose beads on a kitchen countertop beside the 520mL tumbler and straw.

Other Kmart shoppers quickly responded to the post and shared their concerns.

‘Yeah that’s not normal, I have the pink version. None of that,’ one person wrote.

‘Omg what if a child sucked on that straw,’ another said, and a third added: ‘I just got mine delivered today, I will be checking as soon I open the box.’

Some speculated the cause while others admitted they had ‘no idea’ why the beads were in the straw.

‘This looks like a manufacturing issue. Potential disaster. Thank you for letting Kmart know,’ another person said.

Another person speculated the beads are used for ‘polishing the metal’ and aren’t meant to be included with the product.

‘We use them polishing in jewellery as well!’ the woman said.

Emily confirmed she emailed the retailer about the situation then was offered a full refund.

A Kmart spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia an ‘investigation’ is set to start.

‘At Kmart we take product safety extremely seriously. Our customer service team have been in touch with the customer to begin an investigation,’ the spokesperson said.
