Donald Trump is reportedly not getting back on Twitter despite Elon Musk reinstating him on his newly-acquired social media platform. During a vote held by the new Twitter owner, a razor-thin majority of social media users have voted to reinstate Donald Trump on the platform. But the former President appeared to reject Twitter, saying said he would stay on his platform Truth Social.

Speaking from Las Vegas at the Republican Jewish Coalition meeting, Donald Trump said: “Truth Social is through the roof. It’s doing phenomenally well. Truth Social has been very, very powerful, very, very strong.

“And I’ll be staying there. But I hear we’re getting a big vote to also go back on Twitter.

“I don’t see it because I don’t see any reason for it.”

Questioned about Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter and his own future on the platform, Mr Trump praised Elon Musk but expressed doubt that the website would survive its current crises.

He said: “They have a lot of problems. You see what’s going on. It may make it, it may not make it.”

However, the former American President said he liked Musk and “liked that he bought [Twitter].”

Speaking of Musk, he said: “He’s a character and I tend to like characters. But he’s smart.”

About 52 percent of Twitter users voted to bring Donald Trump back on the platform in a turnout of 15 million respondents. Upon getting the final results, Elon Musk tweeted: “The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi. Vox Dei.”

Donald Trump was banned indefinitely from the platform after increasingly tweeting misinformation alleging election fraud in the 2020 presidential election, when he lost to President Joe Biden.

Ahead of the 2020 presidential election, Twitter started adding warning labels to his tweets in an effort to address his false statements. The platform eventually decided to ban him indefinitely following the US Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.
