Benefit Cosmetics leaves customers stunned after revealing what bestselling Benetint product was REALLY designed for (and it wasn’t just a lip stain!)

Benefit Cosmetics left customers stunned after revealing what their bestselling lip and cheek stain Benetint was really designed for.
Earlier this month, the San Francisco-based company shared a Reel on their Instagram page detailing one of the ways the £16 deep red tint can be used.
The brand captioned the clip: ‘Before you come for us, yes we’re okay! Benetint’s original formula wasn’t intended for the lips OR the cheeks.’
In the short social media video, the brand got a male model to show their 1.3m Instagram followers how the tint can also be used on nipples.
The clip shows the anonymous man trying out the fiery red Love Tint first before then giving Cha Cha Tint – which has an orange hue – a go.

Benetint was originally designed for exotic dancers and was the first product twin sisters Jean and Jane Ford released after founding the company in 1976.
Although the original Benetint is a deep red shade made with boiled rose petals and carmine, the best-selling range has now expanded into five different hues.
However, the product’s original use received mixed responses from customers – with some saying it was enough to swear them off using it again.
One replied: ‘Seriously, was that really necessary? Bad PR move there. That image will scar me!’

‘That’s soo not right,’ another added. ‘Puts me off.’
Tagging a friend in the comments, a third wrote: ‘What the heck is this??’
However, others were full of praise for the multipurpose product.
‘This is a great product for anyone who lacks pigmentation, has scars or wants to accentuate their nipples,’ one supporter wrote.
‘Clearly I’ve been using this product all wrong,’ another said. ‘I think the label should be updated to cheeks, lips and t**s!
‘In all seriousness though, it’s a really good product. I’ve been using it for years… on my lips.’

In their 2012 film Glamoureity, Benefit’s founders explained how originally ran a makeup shop called The Face Place.
The sisters were inspired to create their own beauty range after an exotic dancer came in looking for a product that would make her nipples stand out on stage.
After developing the formula with help from their mother, Jean and Jane Ford claimed the impressed customer returned within a week and requested six more bottles to share with her co-workers.
